2025-26 PBA COMCUP | IMPORT RANKINGS | START TO MAR 28

All 13 teams have played two games each in this conference, so I think I have a good sample of stats to show here.

Basically, Bol Bol is the sheesh, leading all imports in points and blocks. Marcus Lee, on the other hand, has got to be the next import to go if he hasn't been let go already, or if he puts up the same stats that Rodney Brondial usually gives San Miguel in the Philippine Cup.

Coming in hot out of the gates, though, is Robert Upshaw III, followed by the suspended Jaylen Johnson, and Ginebra's resident import Justin Brownlee.

So I ranked the imports according to the numbers they’ve brought for their teams. I still included Magnolia’s Nuni Omot and Blackwater’s Daniel Ochefu on the list for you people to gauge which imports are good and who is most likely to leave before the conference ends.

Game starts now.

14 | MARCUS LEE | SAN MIGUEL

June Mar Fajardo is averaging 21 points and 17 rebounds in two games for the Beermen, while CJay Perez is getting 25.5 points and 6 assists per game. These are worthy, import-like numbers for a conference with post-up hired guns and slash-based imports. Leo Austria may keep Marcus Lee as a "glue guy," but like first-round top picks, you get an import who can give you everything, not just be a solid role player. San Miguel is a team that has a lot of money, and I'm sure they are already scouting for his replacement.

13 | TONY MITCHELL | MACAU

Tony Mitchell is another import in dire straits this conference. While his numbers are far better than Marcus Lee’s, Macau is also sporting a winless record in three starts. But hey, maybe a coaching change is exactly what Mitchell needs to finally show his game. That said, there is a chance that an import change may also be in the works for the Black Knights, because it’s obvious that they have multiple players who can slash, and they need a wide body to control the boards.

12 | DANIEL OCHEFU | BLACKWATER

OUT - REPLACED BY ROBERT UPSHAW III

Look, I think leaving due to injury is a blessing in disguise for Daniel Ochefu. I mean, playing for Blackwater, he should have demanded the balls to go his way, especially on the inside. Instead, it feels like he's gunshy, and this prompted Jeffrey Cariaso to bench him for most of the second half. Maybe an injury-free second stint will change our perspective, but it's not like imports who are replaced usually get a second chance.

11 | MARVIN JONES | MERALCO

Yeah. So Marvin Jones is your average big man with a penchant for shooting triples. This is good and all, except that Meralco is overloaded with shooters and slashers, so he is more needed on the inside than the outside. Unfortunately for Jones, he was also the first import to play against an importless team, and he was powerless to stop the Rain or Shine onslaught and was even benched in the final minute. I really can't say if he's on the chopping block now, but those rare opportunities need to be exploited.

10 | KYLOR KELLEY | CONVERGE

Delta Pineda likes Kylor Kelley. That said, Converge has won just 25 percent of their games with him as import. And aside from the fact that he bought out of his G-League contract, he rarely sees significant minutes during the end of games. Yes, Kelley is a great defensive presence, but Converge also needs him to dominate. Unfortunately for him, Converge is overloaded with offensive options, with Alec Stockton jacking up triples during the clutch and Mikey Williams trying to get back the scoring he once had with TNT. What’s worse is that, at the end of the day, the imports get the bulk of the blame for not being assertive enough to take over during clutch moments. Again, it’s not Kelley’s fault that he is surrounded by offensive-minded ballers.

9 | NUNI OMOT | MAGNOLIA

OUT - REPLACED BY CLINT CHAPMAN

Sadly for the South Sudanese import, the baseball season is now in, and the three-strikes-and-you 're-out rule has taken effect. Nuni Omot could have been a beast of an import if he played for another team. However, Magnolia is in a rough patch at the moment, and after San Miguel, they are the team most likely to replace an import when given the chance. It's just unfortunate for him because, instead of a high-scoring import, the Hotshots need an import who can involve the other players.

8 | CADY LALANNE | NLEX

Cady Lalanne may not bring in huge numbers, but he is exactly what NLEX needs at the moment. Yes, Robert Bolick is usually the one who takes over in the clutch, but Lalanne’s steady presence makes the Road Warriors dangerous. During the Ginebra game, it felt like a button was pressed that made him go apeshit in the dying minutes, forcing Tim Cone to get a guy like Isaac Go to at least give the Gin Kings a presence in the middle.

7 | MUBASHAR ALI | TERRAFIRMA

Mubashar Ali was a name out of nowhere who gave Terrafirma an early conference-winning record. That said, I felt like the teams have found a way to stop him, especially after his 50-point performance. He went from fasting to stuffed during his game with Phoenix, which finally brought Terrafirma back to earth. I doubt he’ll lose his spot in Terrafirma after his so-so fourth game, but he also needs to get back into form, especially since the Dyip are battling Magnolia, TNT, and Rain or Shine after the long Holy Week break.

6 | JAMES DICKEY III | PHOENIX

James Dickey is averaging under 20 points and 20 rebounds in four games this conference, but Phoenix is also sporting a 3–1 record. This just means that he's meshing with his teammates while maintaining a semblance of control, especially when the game matters the most. And if you think about it, the Fuel Masters are winning despite Jason Perkins and Tyler still not being at 100 percent, and also without Kai Ballungay.

5 | MICHAEL GILMORE | TITAN ULTRA

I feel like Michael Gilmore is one of the most unfortunate imports in this conference because he only has Joshua Munzon as consistent help in wheeling Titan Ultra to victory. We have seen him get tired in the fourth quarter because lifting the Giant Risers to victory is such a tedious task. That said, they scored an upset against the San Miguel Beermen, with him blasting the hoop from all angles. Whether or not the San Miguel game is a sign of things to come, Titan Ultra can't really say anything bad about his gameplay, other than that he is more of a small forward battling imports who are more familiar with playing inside the paint.

4 | JUSTIN BROWNLEE | GINEBRA

Now we know the caliber of Justin Brownlee, and despite his age and how worn out he is from all the Gilas campaigns, he is still doing it for Barangay Ginebra. Yes, the Gin Kings lost their match against NLEX, but Brownlee also had 46 points in that game. He could have scored even more against Macau, but the game was so one-sided that it prompted the Black Knights to change their coach. I guess it's safe to say that, despite being the smallest import in this conference, he has the most job security of all the imports, especially with the way he is playing.

3 | JAYLEN JOHNSON | RAIN OR SHINE

NOTES | SUSPENDED VS MERALCO

Rain or Shine is on a high right now, and not even his forced sit-down could stop their Commissioner's Cup rampage. And hell, it took a Glenn Khobuntin cheap shot to stop him, although the Elasto Painters were able to secure a win over TNT, as well as against their sister team, the Meralco Bolts. While Yeng Guiao has said that Jaylen Johnson is a nice person off the court, I expect him to go full wacko against Blackwater after serving his suspension. Because that's the thing—he has to unleash hell on the other teams to stretch their winning streak further.

2 | ROBERT UPSHAW III | BLACKWATER

Robert Upshaw is big and bulky, like what Jai White was for Rain or Shine back in the day. And the thing about this is that being built like a tank is a good thing, especially if you're one of the closest friends of the team's top option. Upshaw brings a different dimension that is positive for the Bossings. He can mow down defenses on the inside while also having the ability to jack up long bombs and pass to an open player. I can't really say if this will continue until the end of the elimination round, but his interaction with Sedrick Barefield is going to play a big role in Blackwater's success.

1 | BOL BOL | TNT

I mean, who's better than Bol Bol at the moment? People are complaining that he's not really trying, but what more could he do if he did? The guy can hit shots regardless of range, and his wingspan is extremely helpful in disrupting shots. Again, he is facing tremendous pressure because of the fanfare he brought, as well as replicating the championships that Rondae Hollis-Jefferson gave the squad. But again, if being lazy means having 39 points and 16 rebounds per game, he might bring back the import days of old once he begins to play "seriously." I mean, when was the last time an import averaged 40 points a game?
