1987 PBA DRAFT DISPENSER

Updated: Jun 26, 2022

The good thing about the 1987 PBA Draft is that 40 percent of the draftees ended up having stellar careers.

And it becomes 60 percent… if you consider Harmon Codinera’s defensive prowess.

But that’s the thing. With only five draftees, can we really say that this draft class is awesome?

Well… yes, actually.

Al Solis turned out into a two-time Mythical First Teamer and his long-distance bombs almost helped the Sunkist Orange Juicers to a grand slam in 1995.

And then there’s the top pick. Manny Victorino and Jimmy Manansala may have been top draws during the 80s but if you tell me that these two are good enough deals for Shell to trade the top pick that turned out to be Caidic alongside Philip Cezar and Bernie Fabiosa… then that’s just wrong.
