BAM ADEBAYO 83 POINTS!

Look, man, I don’t care if he's not on the level of Wilt Chamberlain or Kobe Bryant.

And while he basically had one field-goal attempt and one free-throw attempt for every minute he was in the game, you can’t hide the fact that Bam Adebayo holds the second-highest single-game scoring record in the NBA.

And I know what you’re thinking—the score was 150–129, with the Miami Heat beating the Washington Wizards. Well, Kobe Bryant dropped 81 against the Toronto Raptors while playing for a Los Angeles Lakers squad that also had Smush Parker and Kwame Brown—definitely a season away from their championship rise.

And yes, I get it. NBA games were a different beast two decades ago. Can you imagine Kobe Bryant getting even more shots? Probably not. But what if Wilt Chamberlain had a three-point line back then and could shoot from beyond the arc?

Again, this is a generational thing.

So can anyone break Adebayo’s 83 points in the near future? I honestly hope not, because it would water down the achievement. Whether or not a three-point-shooting center was able to destroy a long-standing record, the fact that he did it is insane.

And if you think today’s superstars should have already accomplished this feat, maybe instead of weighing their destination options, they should just work on their game.
