NEW BACK COVER

A few weeks ago, I went to SM North for a haircut. For some reason, I brought my laptop along. While looking for parking, I also ran into my favorite parking attendant.
Now, this guy is something else—hella persuasive. I’d spot him sprinting toward my car in the side mirror, and I knew why: he gets extra pay for car washes. And me? I’m a sucker for sales talk. For months, he’s been convincing me to clean my windshield and try his acid rain cleaner. I actually needed it, and I was curious.
But then, disaster. As I slung my bag over my shoulder, it slipped. A loud bang echoed inside my bag. I brushed it off until I got to Starbucks, only to find my nightmare had come true—my laptop had a huge crack, with wires exposed.
Look, I’m a writer. I also game and use editing software. I have a “work laptop” that I barely use for work, and then there’s my preferred laptop—the one that cracked. I even once covered the back with stickers because some guy at Starbucks mistook it for his.
Now I’ll have to start over?
Oh no.
Fast forward to Sunday, September 28, 2025. I decided to “invest” in repairing my digital pet. I slapped a screen protector on its LCD screen, bought a new charging adapter, and even a compatible power bank, although it was incompatible with my laptop.
The thing is, a year ago, I already had pixel issues on the sides of the screen. When I took it to Megamall this time, the staff pointed out missing screws and faulty lines on the LCD. Honestly, I shouldn’t have been surprised—Cell Kid had already messed up my sound device the last time he cleaned my laptop. So yeah, I’m pissed. Still, I’m keeping the original back cover as a design piece for my room.
This is actually my sixth laptop since I started earning a steady paycheck. Some I sold, some are just gathering dust. I don’t really upgrade unless I have to. This time though, I’m determined to take better care of it.
At least now I’ve got a power bank that works with my “work laptop,” which means I won’t always have to bring my main one on random mall trips.
