Explosive, rugged, and versatile, Davonn Harp was the prototype of an early-2000s power forward—strong in the paint and relentless on both ends of the floor. A direct hire for the upstart Red Bull franchise in 2000, Harp made an immediate impact, clinching Rookie of the Year honors and setting the tone for Red Bull’s gritty identity.
His peak came in 2002, when he was named Best Player of the Conference, Defensive Player of the Year, Finals MVP, and earned spots in both the Mythical Five and All-Defensive Team. That year cemented his reputation as a two-way force who could bang with the best in the league.
Harp helped Red Bull capture two PBA championships, and while his PBA career was relatively short, his legacy as a cornerstone of Red Bull’s rise remains secure—a no-nonsense Filipino American who let his game do the talking.
