Undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft, Marqus Blakely found his basketball legacy not in the NBA but in the Philippines, where he became a fan favorite and a vital piece of one of the most dominant PBA teams of the modern era. Known for his relentless energy, athleticism, and defensive tenacity, Blakely was the engine behind San Mig Coffee’s Grand Slam run in 2013–14.
Blakely won Best Import honors in the 2013 Governors’ Cup, leading the Mixers to the title. He returned in 2014 to help complete the rare Grand Slam, securing back-to-back Governors’ Cup championships and cementing his reputation as one of the most effective and team-oriented imports in PBA history.
Blakely’s ability to defend all five positions, contribute across the stat sheet, and blend seamlessly into Tim Cone’s triangle offense made him more than just an import—he was a cornerstone of a dynasty.
