When it came to hustle, heart, and sheer chaos on the court, Rudy Hatfield was in a league of his own. Nicknamed “The H-Bomb” for his explosive energy and physicality, the Fil-Am forward quickly made waves as a Mythical Ten selection in his first two seasons before exploding in 2003—earning a spot on the Mythical Five, winning Defensive Player of the Year, and bagging Best Player of the Conference honors in the Reinforced Cup. Known for doing the dirty work—diving for loose balls, fighting for rebounds, and defending the opponent’s best scorer—Hatfield was the glue guy every coach dreamed of. He won 3 championships, including a Finals MVP in the 2002 Philippine Cup, and was twice named to the All-Defensive Team. In a league full of finesse, Rudy was the grind—and he made every possession count.
