William McDonald’s PBA career lasted just one game, but his name remains etched in league history—not for a game-winning shot or a dominant stat line, but for one of the most bizarre and meme-worthy moments the PBA has ever seen.

Suiting up for Petron Blaze Boosters in 2012 during a crucial stretch where the team was clawing for the final playoff spot, McDonald lost his temper in the second quarter and threw the ball at the head of Barako Bull’s Mick Pennisi. What followed was an instant classic: Pennisi’s delayed, slow-motion flop after the hit—a performance so over-the-top it went viral and even made it to ESPN SportsCenter.

The moment became bigger than the game itself. While Pennisi gained internet fame, McDonald was ejected and never played another game in the PBA. Whether it was the embarrassment, the league’s disciplinary reaction, or simply poor timing, his PBA stint ended as quickly as it began.

In the end, William McDonald will always be remembered—not for what he did on the court, but for triggering one of the most unforgettable flops in PBA history.
