DONOVAN MITCHELL IS NOW A CLEVELAND CAV
A Woj bomb hit the NBA circles on this day, with Donovan Mitchell finally going to an Eastern Conference team... that's not the New York Knicks.
But who knew Cleveland was in the mix?
For some reason, LeBron James could be returning to his hometown with an insane amount of supporting crew. I know LBJ just signed a lucrative deal to stay with the LA Lakers but how is Mitchell a bad thing for the Cavs?
And Utah dealt Mitchell for a lot of assets.
Also, who knew Danny Ainge is the CEO of Basketball Operations in Utah?
If you combine the Mitchell trade with just the Rudy Gobert trade, Utah has engulfed Ochai Agbaji (the 14th pick of this draft), Walker Kessler (the 22nd pick of this draft), a 2023 first-round pick, two 2025 first-round picks, two 2026 pick swaps, two 2027 first-round picks, a 2028 pick swap, and two 2029 first-round picks... not to mention Talen Horton-Tucker, Stanley Johnson, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, Collin Sexton (sign and trade deal for 72 million), and Lauri Markkanen.
They also dealt Royce O'Neale to the Brooklyn Nets for their 2023 first-round pick.
So yeah... they basically traded their squad for hit-and-miss stars up until the turn of the era.
