It's easy to write about Triple H.
I am a fan of DX back in the day. No, this is NOT the version that had Shawn Michaels. In fact, I never really thought that his DX phase is cool. I may consider Chyna as a true blue (or green) DX member but I never really got the one that had HBK. I always thought about HBK as the dude with a boyhood dream that had to superkick his tag team partner to create this awesome rivalry with Bret "The Hitman" Hart.
For me, DX thrived when Triple H led the group with the likes of X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws joining him and Chyna.
And then, there's Evolution.
If there's one group that really made future superstars, it's this group. The 2002-2003 WWE rookie class that had the likes of Randy Orton and Dave Batista ruled. With Triple H at the helm and Ric Flair acting as the elder statesman, they turned the two into gold standards. I know that batch would have done well either way with Brock Lesnar and John Cena also part of it, but it was Triple H's vision.
And this vision is really the reason why I looked for his Funko pop. When kids were dreaming of being cool, I wanted to be the guy who made WWE scripts. Triple H lived the dream. HHH made a lot of questionable moves but everything he did work out well for him... as well as the people around him. Triple H playing the part of The Kliq's most likely designated driver (because he hardly had vices) and marrying the Boss' daughter gave him extensive inside knowledge as a wrestler as well as a backstage bigwig. And it's not like HHH is all politics. Being married to wrestling royalty can't be a good thing without substance.
The Authority power couple is basically true on-cam and off.
Anyway, this is why I bought the 2-pack - because Triple H and Shawn Michaels are the creative team that's controlling the WWE narrative from hereon out.
