THE DAY I SOLD MY AUTOGRAPHED GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO ROOKIE CARD!

September 25, 2020.

This is the date I wrote this blog entry.

This is also the day I sold my autographed Giannis Antetokounmpo rookie card. I am still at odds on whether or not this is a good move – because he’s going to do more awesome things if he’s going to stay in Milwaukee. The Greek Freak is going to his third MVP title if he stays in Wisconsin but the support he craves may be in other states like Califonia, New York, Texas, and even the Florida area.

With that said, I fear I am not handling the card properly. It has a couple of slightly-damaged sides and I think it's because I suck in inserting cards into sleeves or binders.

And I think I have earned more than enough for one card.

The card is one of 50 cards I obtained from a 2013-14 NBA Hoops jumbo pack I bought for only 450 pesos in the Robinson’s Galleria branch of Comic Odyssey. I believe there were only three packs left then and I just chance upon buying a pack because I need to kill time. Taking a bus to Fairview – despite being a Sunday – is a chore within the 6 pm to 7 pm window.

Looking back, I also saw a couple of Friends Series 1 Funko Pops then.

Those babies are worth a fortune now.

Ugh.

Anyway, at first, I didn’t know what to do with the card. I was just hoping Giannis would have a career similar to Otto Porter and Nerlens Noel. Not only is The Greek Freak a former MVP, but he’s also the reigning two-time NBA MVP.

I kept the card hoping for a 5k payday and ended up with more.

Yes, I will buy another pack… or box with the payout I acquired. Or maybe I am going to open a bunch of binders in search of a random autograph card that I think will have potential. But I am also going to buy other meaningful things with the money I got.

A buttload of Funkos?

Probably not.

However, I think I found a way to sell off my other items. The pandemic makes you think of a lot of things and I just want to get rid of all the things I don’t want in my room. I think I have 200 FHM Philippines, Maxim Philippines, and UNO mags sitting idly in my room. I also have a bunch of Hot Wheels and Tomica cars in need of new homes and I look at a lot of NBA Funko Pops and other non-TV lines that I need to let go.

The last time, I laughed at an Archie comic… is before I went to college.

And as much as I hate to say this because I want to support all the Filipino writers but I have books that I don’t think I will never read again.

Aside from the images, the only evidence that I once had a Giannis Antetokounmpo rookie card is the NBA Hoops jumbo pack that once housed him. The sucky thing about this though is that Kyrie Irving is the featured player.

At least he’s still wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey at this point. I don’t like hating people but man, I really hate him as a player when he moved to the Boston Celtics. I will never blame Danny Ainge for trading away a former 60th pick for a top pick (of the same draft class, mind you), but Irving did not live up to what we expect from him.

Sure, we got Kemba Walker… but Al Horford wouldn’t have left if the team wasn’t dysfunctional as hell.

At least I still have an Antetokounmpo rookie card.

Thanasis!

Get Sydrified.
