I love listening to OPM songs and I think 15 years ago, I ranked my Top 50 OPM bands of the 90s. Spoiler alert, I am a huge Eraserheads fan even if I don't want to go to their reunion concerts (after all, the world still has kinks in 2022).
When I was re-writing this blog, I noticed that some bands on this list were ranked too high for my current taste. I wanted to alter it but in some ways, I still want to keep the original rankings.
Maybe as a spoiler or a preview of things to come, let me just say that I wanted to put Slapshock, Greyhoundz, Fatal Posporos, Elektrikoolaid, and Kulay higher.
CRITERIA:
Shouting expletives just to seem edgy and cool? Please, how original.
Lyrics that make you roll your eyes? No thanks.
Emo music is just a phase, and it's time to grow up.
A complete lack of harmonies? Pass.
Vocalists, that make you want to stick needles in your ears? No thanks.
Repetitive melodies within one album? How boring. Give us some variety, please.
