This Sunday, I’m kicking off a new blog series that spotlights PBA players who badly need a fresh start. Now, I’m not trying to be harsh, but one of the biggest reasons we see so many stalled or wasted careers in the league is that the PBA isn’t exactly built on balance.

Some players have star potential but get buried on deep rosters. And on the flip side, there are struggling teams that could really use that talent, but somehow end up trading away high draft picks to powerhouse squads already stacked with all-star benchwarmers.

Case in point: Arvin Tolentino. If Ginebra didn’t ship him to NorthPort, would he have ever become a multi-time Mythical Team member and a BPC winner? I doubt it.
