It’s been over a decade since the NLEX Road Warriors dominated the PBA D-League, but that dominant form has yet to translate to a PBA Finals appearance.
This year, though, the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup felt like their best shot yet.
With elite tactician Jong Uichico calling the shots, Robert Bolick playing like one of the top scoring and passing guards in the league, and big performances from Javee Mocon, the Road Warriors found their groove. Rookies Xyrus Torres, Brandon Ramirez, and JB Bahio also delivered more than what was expected, giving NLEX a deep and energetic rotation.
The result? A stunning run that saw them finish the eliminations in a four-way tie for first place with San Miguel, Magnolia, and Ginebra.
It was a promising sign… until the playoffs came.
Despite owning a twice-to-beat advantage, NLEX once again faltered in the quarterfinals—this time falling to a hungrier Rain or Shine squad. The dream ended early, but the potential is clearly there. For the first time in a long while, it feels like NLEX is just a few key pieces away from finally escaping their quarterfinal purgatory.
