I like this.
I am a fan of The New Day and Big E should have won the WWE Title when it mattered.
Oh, wait.
It does matter… now.
The thing about the AEW rise is that there is talk that the same, crappy things are leading to the wrestling company’s downfall. Now I don’t know what happened, but Karrion Kross may have a main roster re-start (hopefully without the crappy gladiator getup). Jeff Hardy is used to further the Damian Priest and Sheamus storyline… although I think Hardy botched a couple of moves that match. Doudrop… is still a thing… and for some reason, Eva Marie can easily recover a running splash faster than most Otis, Viking Raiders, and Big E opponents.
And then, Randy Orton has yet to turn on Riddle.
I still hate a lot of things like Alexa Bliss’ character, Nikki Cross’ character, and Reggie belittling at least five workers but at least Big E’s going to make this work.
Big E is a likable character from WWE’s best tag team in the current generation in terms of pandering to the crowd and selling their merch. Raising him as a singles star like how Smackdown made him relevant is going to make Raw’s title scene a bit more complex. Sure, Bobby Lashley is still going to be there with Randy Orton and definitely Drew McIntyre waiting in the wings but now you might see other notables like Kross in the mix.
In some ways, this is a low-key restart to make Raw watchable again.
If I were WWE, I am going to place most of the NXT veterans like Johnny Gargano, Tomasso Ciampa, Timothy Thatcher, Kyle O’Reilly, Io Shirai, Candice LaRae, and Dakota Kai on the roster to help with the wrestling department, send and repackage a couple of their guys like Akira Tozawa, Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, Humberto Carillo, and Cedric Alexander to the new NXT, trade Ricochet to Smackdown for well… Big E since he’s now on Raw.
Raw’s three hours need to have something and I guess having a new champion could be helpful.
Again though, I don’t know if this is a one-time thing.
