LISTENING TO | PAROKYA NI EDGAR - HALAGA (THE VOICE GENERATIONS VERSION)

If there was one thing the old noontime shows did better than, I guess, AlDub and Pinoy Henyo... and whatever It's Showtime was doing when they got their rise, it's the way they promoted OPM.

Ben&Ben, Zack Tabudlo, and IV of Spades (when they were still active) are popular now, but I can't help but wonder if they would gone to Eraserheads-levels of popularity if only the broadcast companies just used these bands more on their shows to promote their albums, or just by giving them exposure.

So this is why this rock-out performance by Parokya ni Edgar is awesome. I think Halaga is in my Top 5 all-time PNE songs (let me revisit their discography,) but I hate the lyrics of the song because you know, once upon a time, I was a dickhead. Anyway, I love how Chito Miranda goes from mellow to whiny in the chorus. Like the reactions of Dingdong Dantes, Billy Crawford, and the fangirling Julie Anne San Jose at the 1:10 part of the clip, the whole place goes bonkers when we get Chito's distinct voice.

Yeah, the noontime shows, especially the Sunday ones have entertaining bits and pieces, but I do wish they'd give at least fifteen minutes of airtime for the OPM bands. In some ways, I hope the winner of The Voice Generations would just use the show to make his or her band a mainstream act.
