LISTENING TO | THE BLOOMFIELDS - BABAERO

I am not a fan of 80s music.

I am not really into the whole hair metal scene and I find the decade's ballads a bit too cheesy.

Yes, I may sing a bit of Stephen Bishop, Bread (I think they are more in the 70s than in the 80s), and David Pomeranz (I once interviewed him for a random NBN Teledyaryo segment). And sure, I am a fan of Guns N' Roses, Jon Bon Jovi, Metallica, and Nirvana. And even more sure... I will never leave Michael Jackson, Elton John, New Kids on the Block, Whitney Houston, Menudo, and Madonna as far as top-tier singers.

But this is also the decade that gave the world electronica.

I... just... can't.

But I am far more forgiving as far as 80s OPM is concerned. Apo Hiking Society (at their peak), Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Keno, Gino Padilla, and I guess a host of others flourished in this era.

And then there's Randy Santiago.

I think I can count my favorite Randy Santiago songs with one hand but it's a formidable hand. Inasmuch as I love Paikot-Ikot, Hindi Magbabago, and Tuloy Pa Rin Ako... Babaero is my all-time favorite.

That is why I approve of this rendition by The Bloomfields.
