NCAA S101 POWER RANKINGS | START TO NOV 24 + PLAYOFF BREAKDOWN

The first round of NCAA Season 101 has wrapped up. The Perpetual Altas topped Group A with a 9–4 record, while the Arellano Chiefs secured second place thanks to a better head-to-head record against the defending champions, the Mapua Cardinals. In Group B, the San Beda Red Lions claimed the top spot after beating the Benilde Blazers twice this season. The Letran Knights grabbed the final outright berth.

Fighting for the last two quarterfinal slots are the LPU Pirates and the San Sebastian Golden Stags in Group A, and the JRU Heavy Bombers and the EAC Generals in Group B.

The winner of the LPU vs. San Sebastian Group A qualifier will face the Group B top seed, San Beda, while the winner of the JRU vs. EAC Group B qualifier will take on the Group A top seed, Perpetual. In the quarterfinals, both Perpetual and San Beda enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage.

The winner of the Perpetual vs. JRU/EAC series will face the winner of the quarterfinal showdown between Group A’s second seed, the Arellano Chiefs, and Group B’s third seed, the Letran Knights. Meanwhile, the winner of the San Beda vs. LPU/San Sebastian series will meet the winner between Group B’s second seed, the Benilde Blazers, and Group A’s third seed, the Mapua Cardinals.

Confusing?

Well, they can pull this off because the league has ten teams. It makes the knockout stages unpredictable and must-watch.

Who would’ve thought Mapua and Benilde would square off this early, or that Perpetual would pull off such a turnaround after seasons of missing the Final Four?
