While some soar briefly, The Hawk glided through 15 consistent seasons—never too loud, never out of place, but always ready to strike. A key piece in Alaska’s 1996 Grand Slam run, Rene Hawkins brought length, versatility, and a high basketball IQ to every team he played for. He earned Mythical Team honors four times, won a Best Player of the Conference award, and proved his clutch credentials with a Finals MVP. Known for doing the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet, Hawkins was a classic “glue guy”—holding championship squads together with grit and poise.
