Mohammad Jamshidi, a staple of the Iranian national team, signed with the Meralco Bolts as their Asian import in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup. Known for his size and playmaking at the wing, expectations were high, but the partnership lasted only five games, ending in what management described as a “mutual agreement.”

Jamshidi averaged 5.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in just 16 minutes per game, but shot 0-of-16 from three, struggled with turnovers, and failed to mesh with the team’s system. With Meralco going 3–2 during his stay and Jamshidi preparing for the FIBA Asia Challenge Cup in Tehran, both sides opted to part ways.

Despite his forgettable PBA stint, Jamshidi remains one of Iran’s most recognizable basketball talents.
