Meralco struck gold with Seiya Ando, who replaced Benny Koochoie mid-tournament during the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup. A steady playmaker and the first Japanese player to suit up in the NBL Canada, Ando brought poise and consistency to Norman Black’s rotation. He played 11 games, averaging 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and over a steal per outing.
While not flashy, Ando’s court awareness and smart decision-making helped stabilize the Bolts’ backcourt. Though his three-point shooting was far from great (23.8%), he made up for it with hustle plays and heady drives, earning the trust of his coaches and teammates alike.
