Drafted first overall in 2002, Yancy de Ocampo came into the league with high expectations—and while he never became a statistical monster or a perennial Mythical Team member, his 17-year career proved his worth as a dependable big man with a high basketball IQ.
Known as "The Postman" for his reliable presence in the shaded lane, Yancy built his legacy not through individual accolades, but through contribution to winning teams. He collected 12 championships, mostly as a role-playing big in powerhouse squads like Talk ‘N Text and San Miguel, showing that a steady veteran with soft hands and a feel for timing can last long in the pros.
His lone Mythical Ten citation came in 2008, during his years with Talk 'N Text. A steady screen-setter, capable midrange shooter, and occasional rim protector, Yancy carved out a role that complemented stars while giving his team size and savvy.
He may not have been flashy—but like all good postmen, Yancy always delivered.
