I enjoyed Hong Jin Ho in Crime Scene and hopefully, the show makes a return. I know South Korean programming is littered with escape room games at the moment... but Crime Scene is just awesome for me.
Anyway, while I enjoyed the awesomeness of Hong Jin Ho in Crime Scene it was this moment from The Genius S1 that got me hooked on his gameplay.
Also, he plays Zerg in Starcraft.
Honestly, I am not a fan of any of Kim Gura's programs. Of all the head MCs in Korea, I just don't find his programs appealing. Yu Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong are my go-to-MCs with most of their lineage in my secondary tier.
So the cold treatment they gave Jin Ho in a survive-type competition is just insane.
That's why this scene is so iconic. The game is called Open or Pass. Each competitor has a deck of cards in which there are numbers and mathematical symbols. The players can share their cards and also buy different decks of cards that could prove beneficial to one's success. The player with the most points wins the game.
While everyone tried to help each other out, Jin Ho went solo and with one important moment, made him one of the faces of this erstwhile long-running franchise.
