LIVE AND LOUD | SUNKISSED LOLA - DAMAG (LIVE AT COZY COVE)

At first, the song reminded me of Dina Bonnevie’s Bakit Ba Ganyan. Call me old-fashioned, but that track is my go-to reference point for this kind of vocal style. It has that classic feel, but the thing about Manila Sound is that its vibe cuts across generations—at least for me.

Then she starts rapping, and for some reason, it brings to mind a few Up Dharma Down tracks. I know Armi Millare doesn’t rap, but that ability to jump from one style to another in a single song—and make it work—is something she’s always excelled at, whether with the band or in her solo work.

Anyway, I really enjoy these Cozy Cove performances.
